Description

This was my first attempt at a mosaic, and what a pain in the butt it was! It consists of 7 panels that I took using my ASI1600mm camera with a Rokinon 135mm lens. I decided to use only an H-Alpha filter for my first mosaic, hoping that it would make things a bit easier. While this mosaic wasn't easy, I'm absolutely sure that doing full color would have complicated things even more. I originally did 8 panels, but decided to leave one panel off because it didn't contain as much H-alpha data, and the photo was wide enough with 7.

Each panel was 20x120s at 200 gain and -20c for a total integration of approximately 4.5 hours.

I definitely could have used at least twice as many subs to capture more H-Alpha emission, but the weather wouldn't cooperate, and this part of the sky kept creeping closer to the sun as winter was coming to an end.
