Description

The astronomical night is about to end. In 8 minutes the Sun will be 18° below the horizon and the astronomical twilight will begin. From that moment on, the sky will become ever clearer.

A faint diffuse light starts from the horizon and intersects the winter Milky Way: it is the zodiacal light, produced by sunlight reflecting off cosmic dust in the zodiacal cloud that pervades the orbital planes in the Solar System.

In the frame: the constellations of Orion, Auriga, Gemini and Taurus, Venus and a small sporadic meteor. And my telescope imaging.

Camera: Canon EOS 6D

Lens: Samyang 14mm f/2.8 @f/4

Esposure: 30s, ISO 1600.

Nebrodi Mounts, Italy, 27 August 2017.
