Description

This is a summer project together with my astro collegue Julian Zoller.

The Cygnus Loop is a large supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus and one of the most popular targets in summer from the northern hemisphere. It features strong Ha and [OIII] emission and hence is a perfect target for capturing with narrowband filters to avoid strong contamination by light pollution. Because the target didn't fit on the small chip of our CCD, we needed to do a 2 panel mosaic. The right panel was centered on NGC 6960 ("The Witchbroom") whilst the left panel features NGC 6992 ("The Bonehand"). We can also see "Pickerings Triangle" in the upper center of the image.
