Description

I turned my telescope to this pair of stars to fine tune my RC scope manually, to my frustration and a loooooong  while later, no matter what I tried I could not get the star spikes to line up................can anyone guess what the problem was?
It turned out that Mizar is a binary star system so no matter what I tried physics wasn't going to allow me to get those sharp aligned star spikes. In fact it turns out that Alcor and Mizar together form a quadruple star system, but I am not able to resolve Alcor.

The moral of the story is that you should research what you are imaging and in this case I liked what was a test and turned it into a mini project from which I learned something.
