This is the second opportunity that Maurizio could do a session to this Comet, but this was from our backyard, and was necessary to use the L-Pro filter for not have problems with the light pollution.

The entire session had 307 but ended in 254 due some frames have movement for winds and quality.

The process was done in DSS getting the star field first in a normal stack and after the comet startrail in wich was worked in Ps for clean the trails and blended both in a final image.

I was not quiet satisfied with the result and try to apply other workflow.

For this other workflow it was done a normal registration with its darks, flats and bias for obtain calibrated frames in .tif. Those tifs frames then it was apply Star Exterminator in each one, then reapply to the sides the original starfield for DSS be able to do the comet stack alignment. I did a test with 30 frames in the way described and to be honest I do not notice any noted difference with the final result I have with the normal process, maybe more clean but not more details.

So in the end I think this is the better we could get from this session comet.

We really want to congratulate the nice effort that several astrophotographers are doing over this fascinating comet.

Our hope is try to do other session in a better Bortles condition.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
