Description

M-13, the "Great" globular cluster in Hercules. It lies at a distance of 21,000 light years from Earth, at which distance its angular visual size of 17 arc minutes translates to an actual diameter of 160 light years. Also visible in the image is the nice spiral galaxy NGC-6207 to the North, and, between 6207 and M-13, the tiny edge-on galaxy IC-4617.
