Description

Palomar 13 is one of the faintest globular clusters known. Its combined magnitude is around Mag 13 with individual stars as bright as Mag 17. It lies in the constellation Pegasus. Pal 13 is 82 thousand light years distant and is orbiting through the halo of the Milky Way. Its definitely a small object of 1.8 arc min in size. As a bonus, also in the field is the barred spiral galaxy NGC 7479, a magnitude 11.9 galaxy. There are also many other small PGC and un-named galaxies. Also surprising was the amount of molecular dust in this area. It actually is throughout the image with a brighter patch in the upper right. The image was taken with a 6" Stellarvue SVX152T refractor and ASI 6200 camera using 2x2 binning and is comprised of 11.5hrs of exposure time.
