Description

Messier 65 (also catalogued as NGC 3623) is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Leo. M 65, M 66, and NGC 3628 comprise the famous Leo Triplet, a small group of galaxies. Taken with my new UnistellareVscope 2 at the OKCAC’s Cheddar Ranch Observatory the night of 30 April - 1 May 2022. This was the third night out with my eVScope 2. EV mode, auto settings, no post processing. I’m estimating Bortle 5 skies. Weather was clear, light to no wind, temperatures started at about 72F and dropped to about 65F by 0230.

This is the last DSO I got that night. About 0230 the wind abruptly picked up and it dropped about 10 deg F, I’m assuming from a front that got there a few hours before it was predicted. It was so beautiful prior to that I was thinking of staying all night. I’ve got a few images from my 1st and 2nd outings with the eVscope 2 that are good enough I may post them next.
