Description

North is up in this image. This image shows a region of Dark nebulae. From the Lynd's Dark Nebula catalog, this image contains designations of LDN 115, 118, 122, 129, 132, and 146. In addition there are several dark nebulae with designations in the Dobashi and TGU dark nebula catalogs. There are a few background galaxies in this image as well. One special surprise is the comet C/2014 R1 (Borisov) located in the upper middle of the image. The comet moved over several arc minutes during the exposure session and would appear as an amorphous blur normally. However, special comet tracking processing was used in a blend with normal processing to represent the comet more clearly in its "average" position over the individual IR/UV Block exposure frames These objects as well as some of the brighter stars are identified in the annotated image. Horizontal FOV is 112'
