Description

You certainly have heard of Rupes Recta located to the east of Mare Nubium (http://astroavani.no.comunidades.net/rupes-recta).

Probably also have read or seen something about Rupes Cauchy east of Mare Tranquillitatis (http://astroavani.no.comunidades.net/cauchy).

Both are remarkable cliffs located on our natural satellite le Rupes straight by the way is the lunar month challenge in Amateur Astronomy Group Selenogy Project.

But have you ever heard of Rups Toscanelli?

Ever seen a photo of this cliff?

In the picture below I was fortunate to capture Ruspes Toscanelli with the Sun in extremely low angle which greatly shows the shadow cast by the west wall.

Rupes Rupes Cauchy Line and are situated in regions with few notable formations, which makes it stand out enough in the surrounding landscape.

Rupes Toscanelli have not had the same luck as in the region it is located other notable formations distract the viewer's attention, among them we can mention: Aristarchus Plateau, Vallis Schroter and own craters Aristarchus and Heredotus

Rupes Toscanelli is an escarpment that stretches for 70 kilometers in north-south direction starting from Toscanelli crater and going to the crater Aristarchus B.

I found information on the height above the surrounding land but using the Line Tool provided by Quick Map and plotting various profiles found that the slope is lower on the north side having an average of 200m height above ground west. Already to the south is much higher reaching about 350-380m compared to west ground.

And that piled up Rimae located near the center?

Ahh, we are now talking Rimae Aristarchus and Rimae Prinz, well ... they are just a toast an interesting picture!
