Description

North is up in this image. The dominant galaxy in this field is NGC5033. The overall field of view captures most of the NGC5033 galaxy group. Some of the group members are NGC 5002, NGC5005, and NGC 5014. NGC 5033 is a Seyfert galaxy with an active core likely powered by a massive black hole. Also seen in this field at the lower edge is the irregular galaxy Holmberg VII. The galaxies mentioned in this field and in the Holmberg VIII irregular are better seen in the larger image. These galaxies are identified in the annotated image. The NGC 5033 Group galaxies range from approximately 40 to 61 million light years distant from Earth. Horizontal FOV is 88'
