Description

This is a small section of the Veil Nebula and Pickering's Triangle that also shows the Planetary nebula Candidate Pa 27. The PN is located center left. The PN is strongly blue indicating the O3 emission with the core orange with Ha emission. That along with the GALEX ultraviolet detection and the 22-micron-bright image from WISE tend to point to an actual planetary nebula. Quite remarkable and deceiving because of the Veil Nebula strands intersecting right on top of the star. The central star must be at least binary, because of the intermediate color in the visible, so there's something "interesting" going on here.

This analysis courtesy of Brian Skiff of the Lowell Observatory. Brian also stated the the final verdict on the PN candidate will be decided by the spectrum of the central star. "The spectrum tells all."

Thank you Brian.
