Description

I've been steadily adding integration time or improving my setup. M13 is an easy object to find and image so this is what I was working with. There is some annotation for each image to provide some information on what was done.

The first 5 images were all taken with the original primary mirror from the AstroMaster at prime focus. This is a Jones-Bird telescope, however, and I had removed the corrector - so this was imaging with a spherical primary. The last image on the bottom right is after I borrowed the parabolic primary from an Orion StarBlast 4.5 and replaced it into the modified Astromaster. There is some improvement in star-size and brightness, though not as much as I had hoped.

Maybe this will give some idea of what it's like making small changes in your setup as a beginner.
