Description

I've always wanted to see what the sky was like at +10,000' (3230 m) and last night I had the opportunity to view the moonless Bortle 1 Skies about a two hour drive west of Cheyenne, WY in the Snowy Mts.

Despite dodging smoke from the western wildfires and a not too well aligned AstroTrac, I managed a few nice captures. What is interesting is that the noise from even iso 3200 was very much decreased over what I get at lower elevations.

I hope to return next year after the snows and try out this area with a guided EQ mount.
