Description

Here is a first attempt at M27 with my equipment. I had a really tough time with the mount and maintaining tracking with this target for some reason. I had to discard a large number of subs so I don't have nearly as much time in the image as was actually caught in a camera. Oh well.

Post-processing seems pretty tricky with this target. It appeared to be very easy to over-stretch the image and get blown-out portions of the nebula. In fact, I may have done a bit too much on this. I don't know that I'll revisit it without getting more data, though. I'm "ok" with this version.

I did experiment with star tightening/reduction in StarTools on this. I wanted to enhance the nebula relative to the stars and this seemed to work out. I then had to apply a Gaussian blur in GIMP to soften up the really bright ones that got overly sharp due to the reductions.
