Description

I got up around 4 am today and was just putzing around inside the house when a little before 6 am my wife came down the porch and through the door and said "Did you see the moon this morning?" I looked out and saw a beautiful scene with the sun just starting to light up the sky through a layer of colorful clouds low on the horizon. The moon, Jupiter, Venus, Mars and Regulus were all shining near each other. I went back in to grab the camera that had been packed away in a closet. I didn't have time to set up a tripod or get a computer, so I just took a picture on automatic landscape settings with a Canon Rebel T3i. By the time I got back outside to take a picture, the coloring in the clouds had already faded and the sky was getting lighter. The auto settings shot had ISO way too high (3200) and, even though I took a series of shots and planned to stack them, I was holding the camera in my hands and all images but one were jittered. After seeing the pictures on a computer, the sky was too bright to try again.
