A tricky processing

Sometimes the image processing, when data are good, goes smooth as silk.

Other times the things are not so easy!

here a good example: This image was acquired with my Leitz Elmartih 180mm tele with an unmodified Canon 450D (from my friend Luigi).

Being unfamiliar with this camera I've barely missed the right focus: when this happens with the Leitz objective the green channel is still in focus, R and B are out of focus resulting in UGLY magenta halos around stars.

Moreover the sky was veiled by high clouds resulting in really big halos around bright stars.

But thanks to PixInsight great tools I managed to partially recover my data obtaining an acceptable picture: It will never become the Picture of the Day, but it's better than nothing.

A volte l'elaborazione delle immagini, quando i dati sono buoni, va liscia come l'olio.

Altre volte le cose non sono così facili!

Ecco un esempio: Questa immagine è stata acquisita con il mio teleobiettvio Leitz Elmartih 180 mm con una Canon 450D non modificata (Prestata dall'amico Luigi).

Non essendo abituato a questa fotocamera ho mancato di poco la messa a fuoco: quando questo accade con l'obiettivo Leitz il canale verde risulta ancora a fuoco, R e B invece risultato sfuocati producendo orrend aloni magenta intorno alle stelle.

Inoltre, il cielo era velato da nubi alte, il che ha prodotto enormi aloni intorno alle stelle luminose.

Grazie ai grandi strumenti di PixInsight sono riuscito a recuperare in parte i miei dati ottenendo un'immagine accettabile: Non diventerà mai la Foto del giorno, ma è meglio di niente.

La revisione B è l'immagine originale con gli aloni magenta

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
