Another Neptun capture, this time using my LX200 8" (f/10).

With guiding and much longer exposure, I got similar results compared to my previous
Neptun images using the 12" Dobson (f/4.9). see here (

On the Dobson I had to discard some 50 % of the captured images because of tracking or seeing defects. On LX 200 with guiding, the ratio is 90% good and the 10% discard is more about seeing conditions.

Both telescopes have benefits and drawbacks, however in winter times (*) I prefer the
the LX 200.
It is more convinient to operate and mounted at equatorial orientation, so I can do very long
exposure without field rotation .

(* Even more, because I can keep my windshields installed on the observation dome.)
