Description

Well, another night up at 2am presented another opportunity to photograph Orion. This time I'd managed (after many hours of frustration) to work out why Bulb was not working earlier, so took 60s exposures. Still wanting to get some sleep in the night, I limited the expedition to only 15 frames. While I'd love to have more data, to make this nebulosity pop out nicely, it's great to have something.

In this image you can see an awful lot - from the constellation of Orion with the Great Orion Nebula M42, to the Flame and Horsehead nebulas (although not make out the shape of the horsehead), Rosetta Nebula, Sirius the bright star, Barnard's Loop (big red loop of nebulosity) and Messier 41 (the star cluster up and to the right of Sirius). Beautiful area of the night sky!
