Description

Comet C/2013 US10 (Catalina) imaged on October 1st 2015, my last photo taken from Southern Hemisphere before the comet left to be observable because its angular approach to the Sun. In this wide field image the comet shines near 7th magnitude and shows a greenish coma, due to gas emission of diatomic carbon, with 8 minutes of diameter. The tail with 3 degrees long, on the rich stellar background between constellations of Centaurus and Lupus, shows details and structural shapes. The most brightest star on upper is B Centauri with magnitude 4.
