Description

Alpha Centauri AB is a double star system in Centaurus, the closest such one to Earth, and the third brightest star in the sky. It consists of two stars; an orange dwarf star (B) which is less massive, smaller, dimmer, cooler, redder and rotates slower than our Sun, and a yellow dwarf star (A) which slightly dwarfs our Sun in those aspects.

Processing details: Original FITS, hst_05132_0a_wfpc2_f547m_pc_drz.fits, obtained from Hubble Legacy Archive. This image was actually quite hard for me to make because of blooming artifacts, which had to be clone stamped away. A diffraction spike is missing from B for some reason, and I tried to add it back before giving up. A may have actually been a bit easier to do than B. Once I called it "done", I then flattened the image and applied a color gradient overlay. That's all I can really say; criticism is accepted.
