Description

NGC 2818 is a large planetary nebula in the constellation Pyxis. It is well known for being superimposed over an open cluster. It looks striking, and is one of the gems of the southern sky.

Processing details:

Red: hst_11956_06_wfpc2_f673n_wf_drz.fits (Sulfur II)

Green: hst_11956_06_wfpc2_f656n_wf_drz.fits (Hydrogen Alpha)

Blue: hst_11956_06_wfpc2_f502n_wf_drz.fits (Oxygen III)

The reason the nebula mostly looks just green and blue is because I used H-Alpha and OIII as green and blue respectively. SII emissions are relatively low from the nebula however the stars still do glow that red a bit. (if that makes sense)

North is up.
