Description

ORIGINAL: This is the "combined" version using the technique I describe below.

REVISION B: This is the Ha layer that I combined with the red layer of the RBG image (as well as used for top-level luminescence)

REVISION C: This is the RBG image. You can see it's pretty noisy and that's probably because I only grabbed 4 frames before it went behind the trees! 20 minutes, that's it! I have to say, this camera is pretty awesome though!

Well, it's been a year to almost the day since I first captured M27 with a camera. This is my "tribute" to that day I decided to change my life last year.

A new camera on a re-lubed mount (still needs a bit of tweaking though) with a new Ha filter that I've been playing around with, all situated in my new astro-shed!

This was taken with my "new" CCD camera - the big chip one. I managed to grab 13 frames at 5 minutes each with the Hydrogen Alpha filter. I grabbed 4 RBG frames with NO filter (not even the LPR - I went "brave", LOL). I did most of the work to each of the separate captures in PixInsight - celebration, integration, and a few tweaks/denoise/etc. I then took the images over to Photoshop and played around with a few different ways of integrating them and finally managed to do a kind of hybrid method of Standard Image > Image with red channel layered with HA channel *Light 15% or so Blending* > Luminance Blending (12% or so) to highlight the reds. I think this was a great start for all the stuff I had to go through yesterday to get her to this point. Looking forward to some clear nights so I can play with this setup some more!
