Description

NGC 7635, also called the Bubble Nebula, is an emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. Although it looks delicate, the 10 light-year diameter bubble offers evidence of violent processes at work. A fierce stellar wind and intense radiation from a star inside the bubble - which likely has a mass 10 to 20 times that of the Sun - has blasted out the structure of glowing gas against denser material in a surrounding molecular cloud. The intriguing Bubble Nebula lies 11,000 light-years away toward the constellation Cassiopeia. [Source: Wikipedia; NASA]

Since I first saw the Bubble Nebula about two years ago, I have been utterly amazed and more than a little awestruck by it; it is so unlikely and exotic. Because of my particular environment it's visible for only a couple of hours a night, so this exercise was done over four nights. Even after the hours of capturing and processing, the Bubble Nebula is a prize I never thought I'd win. Perhaps one day I'll crack the narrowband color code and put up a version not quite so bland.
