Description

This was a first-time observation of this nice barred spiral galaxy. I'm not sure why it isn't imaged more often; maybe because it is farther south (it transits only 30° above my horizon). About everything that could go wrong with this session did: I had problems getting my USB to consistently connect, there was really too much moonlight, causing noticeable gradients and high background noise, and my RA guiding performance was terrible, necessitating some image repair. The color came out with too much red, so I messed with it and am still not quite satisfied (I would like a bit more yellow, I think). All things considered though, I'm happy I got what I got.
