Description

Comet Lulin was discovered by Quanzhi Ye and Chi Sheng Lin, from Lulin Sky Survey (LUSS) on July 11, 2007. With a hyperbolic path, paralel to ecliptic plane and in contrary way to the planets, your maximum approaching to Earth was on February 14, 2009 (to 0.41 AU), some hours before I took this image from Vallés, Valencia (Spain).

Its orbit geometry has provided to see a anti-tail (formed by heavy dust particles that fall toward the Sun) it can see in this photo in direction down left. The normal tail of blue gas, most was lost on begining of February after a disconnection phenomenom, but even is possible to see in this image a bit of it in shape of some delicate streams comming out toward upper right.
