Description

From Nov 2006:

A couple of Planetary Nebulae.

IC 289 (image A) is a very pretty little 'ring' type planetary in Camelopardus, showing some colour and Abell 82 (image B) is an extremely faint, though quite large PN in Cas. Both are well placed but that doesn't make them easy to image. Both images are comprised of 75 x 60 second images acquired through my 10" Newt. with MX5C ccd camera. Planetaries don't usually require too long an exposure but these 2 are something different. I could see no trace of Abell 82 through the eyepiece and even my 60 second subs showed only the merest hint of anything other than stars. I think this is one of the brighter Abell's!!
