Description

C/2013 US10 (Catalina) on 12/20.

The image was obtained with hybrid photography system, a combination of cooled CCD camera and DSLR. This system has an advantage of obtaining high dynamic range L image and RGB color saturation at the same time, then can be suitable to take comet photos, since LRGB with monochrome CCDs normally requires to take each color component individually, which may causes separation of colors for stars if you integrate images with coma.

Also I used a technique described here to fix both comet and stars in the background, since there are outer galaxy nebula NGC5566 and NGC5576 and I did not want to scratch them with coma-based integration.

Detailed system information is as follows:

L Images: Borg 67FL+7870 reducer, f=210mm, F3.1

QHYCCD IC8300 Cooled monochrome CCD camera

300sec x 13 frames

RGB Images: Borg 55FL+7880 reducer, f=200mm F3.5

DSLR Canon Kiss X4 (IR modified), ISO1600

60sec x 30 frames
