Description

This is my first light shot with my new EF 40 mm f/2.8 STM lens (mounted piggy back on my 8se, using the Oben ball head).

It is also my first attempt at using an in camera custom white balance (CWB), in an attempt to reduce the red/pink color casts in many of my stars. Even with the CWB, shot using a grey card, and careful attention to the Color Calibration module in PI, it is still very difficult to get the red out of the small/medium sized background stars (larger stars seem to show their correct colors without much trouble). I'll probably end up posting something about this on the PI forum.

All in all, I am happy with the result, and very pleased with the 40 STM lens. I was fighting a first quarter moon and a lot of high level haze to get these frames. So, I was very glad to be able to catch so many DSO's in one shot.

Thanks for looking!
