The Flaming Star Nebula (IC405)

Description

The great comma in the sky, the Flaming Star Nebula (IC405) is an emission nebula in Auriga, and about 1500ly away. The bright star in the center of the nebula, AE Aurigae, has a high proper motion and can be traced to near the Orion Nebula, likely ejected from a multiple star system 2 million years ago.
