Description

Comet C/2013 US10 (Catalina) passes Eta Ursae Majoris (Alkaid)

This was my first light image for my home observatory - 3 months after it was installed. The long delay was due to a succession of 6 strong Atlantic storms stretching from late October to late December (Abigail, Barney, Clodagh, Desmond, Eva and Frank).

Home is in outer suburbia and the skies are 3 to 4 times brighter than my remoter site.

Version B: Changed the Screen blend coefficient for the comet layer from 1.0 to 1.67 to better emphasise the ion and dust tails.
