Description

Planetary nebula in Lynx. Mag. 14, 1600 ly distant, 3.9 ly across. Mag. 17 Brown Dwarf star at center.

This was an experiment. My histogram said I needed very long exposures (3600s), which neither my equipment nor I can do well, so I traded resolution for exposure using bin 2x2. More light captured means less detail and a smaller image. All in all, I don't think the tradeoff was a particularly good one for this small target through my small scope. A close look at the largest view reveals some detail with a bit of depth (if you squint you can almost make out the mag. 17 center star). This would certainly be a better target for a larger scope
