Description

This is my very first image with my new camera rig. While I originally chose this subject for testing purposes only, I ended up liking the result so much that I put more time into it and made it a full image.

M38, also catalogued as NGC 1912) is an open cluster in the constellation Auriga. It lies approximately 4,200 light years from Earth. Also visible in the frame, below and to the left of M38, is another open cluster, NGC1907. It contains around 30 member stars and sits approximately 4,500 light years from Earth.

Filter note - the CLS-CCD filter was installed during the Luminance, Red, Green, and Blue frames, but not for the Hydrogen-Alpha frames.
