Description

Rupes Recta, a.k.a. the Straight Wall, is a rille or fault in Mare Nubium. Also visible in the image are the crater Birt (just below the Straight Wall), the rille Rima Birt (snake-like feature below Birt), and the crater Thebit (above the Straight Wall).

This image was captured with my deep sky camera, the QSI 660ws, using a luminance filter and 0.008s exposures binned 1x1. My 'scope was still set up with the f/7 reducer from last week's imaging session, providing an image scale of 0.46"/pixel. The seeing was horrible, with patchy cirrus clouds drifting over. I stacked 38 of the usable frames using Deep Sky Stacker, which is not really designed for lunar image processing. Basically, I used everything that I ought to be using for deep sky imaging. I would like to shoot this one again with better seeing and at f/10.

Deconvolution was applied in Astra Image 3.0 using Lucy-Richardson method with Moffat type PSF.
