Description

First post in a while - been away from the board mostly due to an arm injury which made manipulating a mouse with any accuracy futile not to mention somewhat painful...

Anyway I have a lot of catching up to do checking out all the great stuff that has been posted. I have been gathering data, so I have a backlog of data that will keep me busy for a while.

This is Ngc 3521 in Leo. Distance has been estimated around 37 mly. It is 50,000 ly across, which is about half the size of our galaxy, or about a quarter the size of the Andromeda galaxy. I thought this was going to be a complete throw away given it’s low declination and the horrible seeing (jet stream right overhead) but it came out not great, but better than expected.

LHaRGB Ha mixed into the red channel at 30% (Original image = Ha data)

L=51 x 600 1x1

Ha 9 x 1200 1x1

RGB 17 x 300 2x2 each

Thanks,

John D
