Description

NGC 4490, also known as the Cocoon Galaxy, is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici. It lies at a distance of 25 million light years from Earth. It interacts with its smaller companion NGC 4485 and as a result is a starburst galaxy. The NGC 4490 is NGC 4485 pair is mentioned in the Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies as Arp 269.--Wiki

I really miss my long focal length scope now. Nevertheless, I tried this beautiful pairing with my 4" apo. Shot RGB only and extracted a luminance. I'll have to try this one again when I get my new telescope.
