Description

So, long roundabout path to get me back to a TEC 140. Last year I tried out a TEC 140 without a field flattener and on the Atlas mount. While I was really happy at that point with the scope, it wasn't a good match for my mount and it had very bloated blues. Thanks to a lot of work from Peter in Reno documenting his experiences with TEC 140 and a Sony sensor along with a field flattener, I was convinced to give it a go again now that I have a Mach 1. I am so happy with the results. The guiding was excellent, mostly under .5" rms and the details are very crisp and sharp with an image scale of around .78"/pixel. Unfortunately, the 690 needs to go back again for a little more work, so this is a little bit of a false start, but I'm still quite pleased with the image. I can't wait to get the rig out of a red zone and see what it can really do. Fortunately, I'll be shooting smaller targets with this that typically have a little higher surface brightness and require better seeing. My new location in Florida should match those requirements well. As always, your C&C's are very much appreciated and thanks for looking!
