Skytracker on 8se Basic Tripod & 8se on Advanced VX

Description

I was glad to find out that basic 8se alt-az tripod works well with the Skytracker. No adapter needed - I just used one of the 3/8" screws in the tripod plate to attach the Skytracker. My Oben ball head also worked well with the Skytracker, although the lock lever on the Oben sometimes interferes with one of the lock screws on the Skytracker. This was correctable with some adjustment.

To make the best use of the clear night, I set up the Sky tracker first (quick setup) and let it start shooting. While that was going on, I finished the setup of the 8se on the AVX (was setting up for planetary).

The following week, I purchased the intervalometer (not shown in this photo) and set the Skytracker up in one part of my yard. While that was shooting, I setup the 8se in a completely different part of the yard. This avoided the problems of USB cord length, or accidentally bumping (or illuminating) the Skytracker while setting up other gear.

Thanks for looking!
