Description

NGC 5317, also known as NGC 5364, is a spiral galaxy that appears in the constellation Virgo at a distance of about 54.5 million light years. Shining at an overall magnitude of 10.4, it spans about 6.4' by 4.4'. The small companion galaxy on the right side of the image is NGC 5360 (mag. 14.2).

This image was taken in RGB mode with a synthetic luminance channel. Red subs were 360 seconds and blue/green subs were 270 seconds. The seeing was really good for our area on this night, with FWHM values reaching as low at 2.0" at times.
