This has been an ongoing project that is still needing some final touches.
The data set is from
Luminance 34 x 900
Red 16 x 600
Green 16 x 600
Blue 18x 600
I still need to finish 16 x 1800 in Ha ; but I wanted to post this set as is uncropped to see all
that is going on in this image. What really surprised me is all the faint galaxy's and double stars
depicted edge to edge. The image is really teaming with life everywhere.
I also felt like posting this now since its my young 62nd Birthday today.
I decided to post a cropped version of the data that I currently have as is. This M51 image has been ressized somewhat to see additional detail from capture.
Various brush size filters were used in Photoshop throughout image and an HDR Multiscale of 3 was used in Pixinsight 1.8 to bring out the arms and core structure in better detail.
I attempted to avoid using as little noise reduction as possible so as not to loose detail in small background galaxies.
I used an autoscaled version for this image and attempted to control the background this way. The only problem doing it that way was the black point was clipped thus possibly loosing additional inner detail from the background.
I will re-process again once I have the Ha data available and attempt to blend this in with the red channel.
