Description

Abell 35 (also known as Sh2-313) in the constellation of Hydra is believed to be about 1,200 light-years from Earth. It was considered to be an old planetary nebula, but with a diameter of more than 5 light-years, it would be one of the largest planetary nebulae known. The unusual bow shock feature visible in Oiii is caused by the central binary star moving through the palnetary nebula at 125km/s. At this rate, it will traverse the object in about 16,000 years!

North is to the right, East up.
