Description

Moving into the last hour of Mercury's transit was marked by a bright group of flares emanating from Active Region 2542 which lasted over 15 minutes before slowly fading out

This image is a crop of a full disk image. 3000 frames were acquired starting at 17:41 UT @ ~ 12 fps in 16 bit monochrome (SER format). PIPP was used to grade the images and select just the 300 best. Autostackertt was then used to grade these further and only the best 30 frames selected for the final stacking (using 3x drizzle as the TV85 is under sampling). Processed in Images Plus and Photoshop for noise reduction and sharpening. The colour scheme used is the "Hot Metal" palette - all brightness features in the red channel, mid to high brightness features in the green channel and just the brightest features in the blue channel,
