Description

The Moon is a very well preserved star in its topography and needs to be further studied, because it still holds many 'mysteries'' to be revealed.

Since the earliest civilizations the man used the drawing as the first way to record celestial events observed the naked eye. Many of these early pictographic records were carved in relief and / or designed mainly rocks and clay.

With the advancement of technology these records became sketches on papyri and other paper formats. With the advent of Galileo Galilei's telescope the heavenly bodies began to be drawn as seen through optical instruments. The first of these records was the lunar topography performed by Galileo himself with his lunetinha 33mm. Thus, humanity has learned that the moon was not smooth and perfect, that '' sea '' were not water oceans as the Earth and more.

After the invention of photography and modern techniques records video images and / or digital, and especially the lunar mapping by space probes the moon passed into the background, and made the noble art of drawing and photography were losing interest and therefore increasingly being abandoned in the amateur astronomy.

The Moon is the first telescopic goal for most amateur astronomers and no doubt a few of them were not impressed by what they saw through the lens of their telescopes. Frequently, however, these first impressions did not develop in a long-term interest. The current low level of interest on the moon might be due to the misconception that there's nothing else important to be learned from ground-based observations that has not already been done by the spacecraft, the astronauts and the large telescopes.

One of my aims has always been to encourage the resumption of the study of lunar topography through images. Thus the careful observer gains a deeper understanding of the lunar topography, a more accurate perception of the details and the lighting changes and shadows that occur on the surface of the moon. In this respect it is quite possible that we can find lunar landforms that have not yet been duly registered or named (see, http://astroavani.no.comunidades.net/relatando-a-descoberta-uma-nova-cratera-fantasma ) and see if there are significant changes in the topography of our natural satellite through TLPs well as the fall of a new bolide.

Anyway, as the title says, the Moon is a "Astro extraordinary" that deserves attention from dedicated amateur astronomer.
