Description

About 1500 light years away and 151 light year in diameter, the brightest part of the Orion molecular complex is excited by the stars of the trapezium (theta Orionis) visible in the brightest part of the nebulosity.

This image is a combination of long exposure (10 minute sub-frames) and short exposure (20 second) sub frames.
