Description

Imaged on nights of 9/16/2020, 9/18/2020, 9/19/2020.

Abell 8 is a rarely imaged planetary nebula. I could find very little about it on the web. It has a strong Ha ring surrounding a center that has Oiii which predominates. Both Ha and Oii are otherwise very uniform and perfectly circular. This would imply a very central illuminating star. However what looks like it might be the centeral star is very tiny and faint, so it is not clear that it is the energizing star.

Abell 8 is listed as magnitude 17.6 and is 1 arc minute in diameter.
