Description

M3 - Globular Cluster

My first attempt at a globular cluster. I had a feeling that this would be a tricky target and I was right. But not bad for a first go. Globular clusters, often referred to as Jewels in the Sky and it's easy to see why. These amazing clusters of stars are orbiting our galaxy and so are actually part of it. This one was discovered in 1764 and is estimated to contain 500,000 stars and around 8 billion years old. It is approximately 33,900 light-years away from Earth.
