Description

The Arp 297 quartet is actually comprised of two interacting pairs. The closer, at around 200 million light-years distant, includes face-on spiral NGC 5754 and its companion NGC 5752. Here, spiral arms have been disturbed and a long, faint stream of debris from their encounter extends to the west. The second pair consists of warped spiral NGC 5755 and NGC 5753. These lie over twice as far away, at 450 million light-years distant. Many PGC objects reside in the background.
