      Description

Data acquisition Rick Stevenson - thanks for the data Rick, much appreciated.

      Scope: Astro-Physics AP140EDF

      Camera: Alta U16m

A Southern Hemisphere target I have long wanted to have a go at.

Processing by me - my first attempt at a HaOIIILRGB combo - in this version i have relied quite heavily on the narrowband data for a defined look. I will likely edit as my first attempt and this channel combination. C&C welcome - always good to learn.

I will also have a look at a HaLRGB variant shortly as well and possibly a LRGB only for comparative reasons.

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Albeit the SMC is a dwarf galaxy and slightly irregular (it's original barred structure disturbed by the Milky Way) to look at galaxy its proximity means there is a lot going on.

A view of several hundred million stars and a full set of a galaxies nebulas make for a haphazard array of features with little order seemingly present. Nonetheless this is one of the few opportunities in the night sky that can offer such a range of features all in one frame.

      Hope you enjoy.
