Description

This is a reprocessed version from http://www.astrobin.com/120483/. To me, it was much improved in colors and details, as my processing skills evolved. PLEASE SEE THE FULL SIZE IMAGE (just a ~50% resize from the original~ 67MP image.

** It has been a long time since I last posted an image here at Astrobin. Actually, almost 7 months. I did not stop astrophotographing in any sense, I just hadn't subscribed to premium account. Now I am back at posting, and I have lots of completed images to post here, so please stay tuned for updates in the next days/weeks. **

This is a 16 panel mosaic in a rather random order, not completely planned, but it turned out to be quite good to me. Some interesting objects can be seen in this image, notably: The Scorpion's tail, M8, M20, M16, M17, several nebulas and clusters, NGC7000, Sadr Region....

Please also note that pretty strong Airglow was visible due North that day. In my 1st rendition of this mosaic, I just simply color corrected it, mistaking it as light pollution. However, it is present, and presents as a faint magenta glow. ESO had a very nice video on this phenomena, ESOcast 78, and I strongly recommend watching the well made video with breathtaking images from Atacama to learn more.

Taken at 00:30 a.m., while some clouds rollled over the Northern and Western Horizons. The Milky Way was already in the West side of the meridian.

Constructive criticism, comments and suggestions are more than welcome in the comments section. Thank's for taking your time to look at this image.

Taken from Rural Skies (Bortle 3-4; NELM ~6.2), from Cristina, MG, Brazil (22ºS latitude).

Date and Time: July 24th, 2016, at 00:16

Camera: Unmodded Canon T4i/650D, at ISO 1600

Lens: Canon 40mm f/2.8 STM, at f/3.2

Exposure Detail: 1x60s for each panel, total 16x60s or 16x1 minute or 16 minutes.

*Revision -B- is the full image uncropped of the mosaic. You can see that my bad planning lead to poor alignment and lots of edges, therefore a lot of data was "lost" when cropping just the Galaxy. However, the uncropped version has its charm IMO. What's yours?*
