Description

NGC 6334 (also known as the Cat's Paw Nebula, Bear Claw Nebula and Gum 64) is an emission nebula (the red color that originates from an abundance of ionized hydrogen atoms). At 5,500 light years distant, this star-forming region located in the constellation Scorpius contains stars nearly ten times the mass of our Sun that have been born there in only the past few million years.

This image was captured in Padre Bernardo/GO - Brazil, during the 9th Brazilian Meeting of Astrophotography.
